Teaching Philosophy
I believe that every child is a unique individual that can grow emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially when provided a safe, caring, and stimulating atmosphere. As an educator I want to provide my students with a safe environment, where they feel secure and confident to grow as a student as they take risks, share ideas, and explore their own curiosity and knowledge. I want to help guide the children in discovering who they are, as they express their opinions and nurture their ideas.
While every child is unique, I also believe that every classroom is unique as various learning abilities, styles, and interests will be present. I want to give my students the tools they need so that every child can feel successful and capable in the classroom. I will create a literacy rich learning environment that incorporates thematic units, inquiry based learning, group work, individual work, and hands on learning so the children can always be active and engaged learners, regardless of their ability or style. I also want to tie learning into the real world the children live in, and how it is relevant to their lives. With these tools I hope they can cultivate their own gardens of knowledge.
I plan to model the importance of being responsible for yourself, and your own learning to my students. By doing this and by creating a safe, caring, and stimulating classroom environment I hope each individual child can blossom and grow in not only their educational learning, but also in themselves as they are continually discovering who they are and who they want to be.
I believe that learning is a life long process, and one that starts with the natural curiosity and wonder that children are born with. I hope to always keep this wonder and curiosity alive in my students, and create a learning atmosphere that supports, enhances, and strengthens it. I want to instill a love of learning into my students, help them grow as individuals, as I grow along side of them and share my own passions for learning.
